Guangdong has officially entered autumn, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen marking October 21 as the start of the season, the second-earliest arrival this century, following only 2021's record.

For Guangzhou, the autumn start date of October 21 is significantly earlier than the usual November 9, while Shenzhen's entry on the same day is 18 days ahead of its typical November 8, making it the earliest since 1998. Shaoguan, in northern Guangdong, joined slightly later, entering autumn on October 20. This widespread early transition is largely attributed to the combined effects of Typhoon "Fengshen" and a moderate cold front that swept through the area starting October 19, bringing noticeable temperature drops and precipitation.

As temperatures fluctuate, Guangdong residents have entered the so-called "clothing chaos" period, a local term describing days when the weather changes so rapidly that people struggle to choose appropriate attire. Mornings might feel like winter with temperatures around 15°C, while afternoons can heat up to nearly 30°C, resulting in streets filled with people in everything from light jackets to short sleeves.

Residents are advised to dress in layers and take advantage of the drier days to air out stored clothing, as humidity and dust buildup can cause seasonal allergies.
