The Zhongshan 8th Road transportation interchange hub is expected to complete its core structural construction by the end of 2023, according to Guangzhou's Liwan District recently.
The hub contains multifunctional transport service facilities, including bus stations, bus parking lots, bus dispatching management, parking lots for social vehicles, a community-supporting service center, and a commercial service area.
According to Liwan District, the hub covers an area of 33,825 square meters, with three underground floors and six above-ground floors, connecting Guangzhou Metro Line 5 and 11. The underground part of the project has been completed and capped currently.
The project has embraced Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to build 3D model construction, leveraging its benefits in visual design, collaborative management, and better design quality.
Innovative techniques, including diaphragm wall construction, hot-rolled high-strength steel reinforcement applications, and high-strength steel reinforcement direct threading connections, have been used as well.
