As the Spring Festival approaches, in Nanhai Yanbu Dongxiu Hengjiao Village (南海鹽步東秀亨漖村) located between Guangzhou and Foshan, 100 peach trees well taken care of by the experienced farmer Uncle Wen are adorned with buds, ready for sale.

The peach trees, cultivated with care from saplings over six years, now are much taller than Uncle Wen, who used cloth strips to bind branches together for shaping.

Uncle Wen has been planting peach trees in Dongxiu, Nanhai, for nearly 30 years. He is also a familiar face at Guangzhou Liwan Flower Market. He has been selling flowers in the traditional flower market for over 20 years.

The blossoms of the peach flowers are large and brightly colored.

"We initially sold flowers at Guangzhou Yuexiu Flower Market. Later, when Guangzhou Liwan Flower Market moved to Liwan Road, which is more spacious and closer to the flower fields and has many local customers, we decided to sell peach flowers here," says Uncle Wen. He expresses confidence in this year's Guangzhou Liwan Flower Market and hopes for slightly colder weather to align the blooming period of the peach flowers with the festivals so that he can welcome customers with their vibrant beauty.

The flowers are carefully tended to achieve a perfect blooming period during the Spring Festival.

The Liwan traditional flower market returns to Liwan Road (荔灣路) after a four-year hiatus, scheduled from February 6 (Lunar December 27) to February 9 (Lunar New Year's Eve) in 2024, spanning four days.

Uncle Wen is optimistic about this year's Liwan Flower Market.

The history of peach flower cultivation in Dongxiu, Nanhai, is longstanding.

The 100 peach trees are managed by Uncle Wen and his wife.

Currently, the flower market is in the midst of intense preparations. During the Guangzhou Liwan Flower Market, the focus will be on the development and construction of the "Northern Liwan Cultural Entertainment Zone," using fresh flowers as a medium to promote consumption and support.
