On February 6th, the 2024 Guangzhou Water Flower Market kicked off at Liwan Lake. "Misses Xiguan" boarded twelve characteristic flower boats for a cruise on the lake. On the shore, crowds of citizens flocked to admire and purchase flowers, creating a bustling scene. The unique "water flower path" of Liwan brought the distinctive flavor of Lingnan to the event.
The Water Flower Market commenced with lively and traditionally-themed dragon and lion dances. The atmosphere was festive and warm-hearted, with many families bringing their children to experience the rich New Year's ambiance.
“This year's Water Flower Market is filled with the essence of the New Year, showcasing the distinctive Guangfu folk customs and local characteristics of Liwan. I brought my children to watch the show and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Liwan and grow fond of Liwan,” said local resident Ms. Chen.
The water flower market has introduced captivating performances by artists from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as live calligraphy and painting demonstrations. At the event, five renowned artists collaborated on a 4-meter-long dragon painting, captivating the attention of onlookers.
