The first women's dragon boat team from Haizhong Community in Zhongnan Subdistrict, Liwan District, was established in 2023. The team will make a spectacular debut with a performance race at the Qingfeng Cup Dragon Boat Race, an event often referred to as the "Village Super League" of Haizhong Village.

As the major competition approaches, nighttime training sessions have become crucial for enhancing teamwork and combat readiness. Among the vigorous rowers, the women dragon boat racers stand out. Although they may not be very tall and some appear slim and petite, their determination shines through as soon as they pick up their paddles.

Liang Xingying, affectionately known as Sister Ying, said, "In the past, dragon boating was a luxury sport for us women. We weren't allowed to participate. Now, with more open-minded thinking and gender equality, the community has formed a women's dragon boat team. We cherish this opportunity and thoroughly enjoy the joy it brings."

Drummer Liang Shaozhen is particularly focused on technique. She noted that the men's team of Haizhong has achieved impressive results, and the women's team is equally determined not to fall behind. "We hope to receive some guidance from professional coaches, and I'm confident that our performance will improve," she said. The team's enthusiasm grows with each practice, bringing more joy and harmony to their families, which is a shared aspiration and goal.

In previous years, these women provided strong support during dragon boat races, ensuring logistical and safety preparations. Now, they have realized their dreams and become part of the wave-riding team. United by a common goal, the women of Haizhong demonstrate teamwork and mutual encouragement on the river, embodying resilient women's power.
