Announcement of the Guangzhou Liwan District Water Authority on Designating the Prohibited Sand Mining Areas in the Managed River Channels of Liwan District for the Year 2024
In order to ensure flood control and water supply safety, and protect the aquatic ecological environment, in accordance with the laws and regulations such as the"Water Law of the People's Republic of China", "Guangdong Province River Management Regulations", and "Guangdong Province River Sand Mining Management Regulations", and considering factors such as river sand deposits, riverbed evolution, water conditions, engineering safety, and water environment, and after soliciting opinions from relevant departments, the Liwan District Water Authority now announces the designated prohibited sand mining areas in the managed sand mining river channels of Liwan District for the year 2024 as follows:
I. For provincial and municipal managed river channels (river sections), the prohibited sand mining areas for the year 2024 will be implemented according to relevant provincial and municipal documents.
II. All district-managed river channels (river sections) within the jurisdiction are designated as prohibited sand mining areas for the year 2024. All sand mining applications for the above-mentioned river channels (river sections) will be suspended, and the issuance of "River Sand Mining Permit" is prohibited. All sand mining activities in these river channels are prohibited, except for river improvement and navigation dredging projects approved by the water administrative authority and permitted by other relevant departments. Violations of the provisions of this announcement will be strictly dealt with according to the law.
3. This announcement will be effective from January 1, 2024, and valid until December 31, 2024.
